About the Artist:

Huang Binhong (1865-1955), born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, was a renowned painter and educator in modern China. He stands as one of the principal founders of modern Chinese ink painting and established the "Huang School," a style that has influenced countless artists. His landscape paintings seamlessly blend traditional and contemporary elements, imbued with a rich poetic sensibility. Huang Binhong advocated for artistic innovation, emphasizing "cherishing the tradition while not being bound by the old" and championed the integration of "expressive representation" and "literal scenic depiction."
