Wang Zhaojun (王昭君) is renowned as one of the Four Beauties of ancient China. Her beauty is often poetically described with the phrase "a falling goose would forget to flap its wings", implying that even a bird would be captivated by her and forget to fly upon seeing her.
Born during the early Western Han Dynasty, Wang Zhaojun's legacy is deeply tied to her sacrifice for peace. According to historical accounts, she willingly volunteered to marry the Xiongnu chieftain in order to establish a peaceful relationship between the Han Dynasty and the Xiongnu nomads, a significant gesture given the longstanding hostilities between the two. This act of matrimonial diplomacy helped ensure peace between the Han Empire and the Xiongnu for many years.
Her story is one of beauty, courage, and sacrifice. Over the centuries, Wang Zhaojun's tale has been the subject of numerous artistic expressions, including paintings, literature, and plays, celebrating her as a symbol of peace and a bridge between cultures.
About the Artist：
Chen Xiaoping stands out as a renowned artist, celebrated for her profound expertise in the realms of oil painting, traditional Chinese painting, and calligraphy. Twice she has been honored with the prestigious award for the "Most Outstanding Visual Artist" by the Governor of CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands). Furthermore, Chen has secured the gold prize on two occasions at the "NTD Global Realism Oil Painting Competition". Her solo exhibitions have been held multiple times, showcasing her deep mastery over her craft. Several of her remarkable pieces are now part of the permanent collection at the Saipan National Museum. Chen Xiaoping's works not only capture the essence of the subject but also reflect a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western artistry.
