Giclée art print, printed on German made rice paper.

The artist : Xiaoping Chen (Michelle Chen), stands out as an esteemed painter. She possesses deep mastery in oil painting, traditional Chinese art, and calligraphy. Twice, she was recognized with the 'Most Outstanding Visual Artist' accolade by the CNMI Governor and clinched the gold in the 'NTDTV Global Figure Realistic Oil Painting Competition' on two occasions. Michelle has showcased her work in several solo exhibitions, with a notable collection housed at the Saipan National Museum.

The work: who planted the willow trees, standing tall along every shore? In places where water transport thrives, willows often dominate the riverbanks. They have thus witnessed countless farewells at the docks, with departing guests leaving behind a sentiment in the form of broken willow twigs, symbolizing lingering thoughts of parting. In summer, the dense willows bid adieu to travelers on boats, setting off into the distance.

Type of work:   Ink on paper

Creation time: 1991
