Artist profile : Cao Zuimeng, a Manchu in Northeast China. Graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Harbin Normal University. He used to be a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, an art education theorist, and a collector of ancient cultural relics. Professor Cao Zuimeng is an outstanding representative of the Chinese Ice and Snow Painting School. He has been in the forest area of the Xiaoxing'an Mountains for many years and devoted himself to the research of the small freehand brushwork of Chinese paintings of ice, snow and frost. He founded the unique ice and snow painting school written by part-time workers, mainly expressing frost and snow, cold ice, wilderness, secluded birds and wild sparrows in northern China. His works have been collected by many art research institutions.
